Using the ADAT Optical protocol, the Alesis AI-3 Analog-to-ADAT Lightpipe Converter offers high-resolution analog-to-digital audio conversion and amazing value. With 8 analog inputs and outputs, 20-bit digital converters, and ADAT optical digital interface, the Alesis AI-3 is perfect for adding I/O to digital mixers, multichannel cards, and all equipment that offers ADAT Optical compatibility. Combine with the ADAT/EDIT computer package to create an affordable, high-resolution hard-disk recording system.The Aesis AI-3 provides 8 analog inputs and outputs on balanced 1/4" TRS connectors. These jacks feed 20-bit, oversampling A/D/A converters for a dynamic range. This can also work in reverse, translating ADAT Optical digital audio signals back to analog with 24-bit precision. Discrete LEDs indicate signal presence and signal peaks for all 8 channels. A switch allows for selection between balanced +4dBu and unbalanced -10dBV operation. Front-panel switch allows you to route ADAT Optical signals through the AI-3 for use in a multi-ADAT system without repatching. The rear panel hosts the 8 input and 8 output jacks, as well as the ADAT Optical interface. The Alesis AI3 Lightpipe Converter has a sleek design so that it fits into a 1U rack space.
